Mission Satement
We, the University of New South Wales United Nations Society, believing in the purposes
and principles of the United Nations, aim to encourage the community of the University
of New South Wales to strive towards a greater understanding of global issues and to
inform about the structure of the United Nations, its functions and its future.
To achieve this goal set by our Founding President in 2001, we abide by the principles set out below.
Who and What we Are
- The United Nations Society is a non-partisan society that aims to foster a diplomatic culture on campus and develop an appreciation for the United Nations and the work it does around the world.
- A forum for discussion as part of our policy of non-partisanship we encourage and help provide members a forum to engage and freely and fairly discuss issues of world affairs and the UN.
- A place to learn we provide members with great opportunities not just to participate but also to learn from other members and executives and their experiences.
- A place to meet people your time at university should be all about meeting new and like-minded people. For those interested in global issues and the role of the UN in the world and our lives the UN Society provides an unparalleled opportunity to meet and network with other global citizens.
- A gateway of opportunities whether your interests lie in academics, politics or multilateral diplomacy the UN Society with its variety of opportunities to participate at all levels as well as links to other humanitarian societies and UN affiliates and agencies can provide members with rare opportunities for the future.
